Jeff Turkowski knows how to serve.
The Newcastle native can pinpoint the moment he knew he wanted to serve his country in the military.
Like many war veterans of his generation, it was Sept. 11, 2001.
“When it happened, I couldn’t get out of my chair,” he said of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, The Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93. “I knew something had to be done, and if I didn’t go, someone else would have.”
