Former NCAA Administrator Named Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs

A former athletic administrator who also is a veteran in the Army, reported to his post last week as Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

Donald Remy

Donald Remy, previously served as the chief legal officer for the National Collegiate Athletic Administration (NCAA). In that role, he shaped NCAA policy on a number of issues ranging from academics, amateurism, athletics competition and health and safety.

Before arriving at the NCAA, Remy was a partner at the law firm Lathan & Watkins, and served as deputy assistant attorney general for the Department of Justice. His military tenure included working as an assist to the general counsel for the Army.

Remy is a graduate of Louisiana State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He earned a law degree from Howard University.
