Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed into law three bills – to take effect July 1 – that would support military families and veterans, Bay News 9 reported.
The first bill will allow public schools to have a “Purple Star Campus” designation if they meet certain requirements, such as training a staff member to be point of contact between the school and military family and creating a school webpage for military families.
The second bill makes Florida the first state to codify a federal program connecting veterans to job training, work opportunities and internships.
The third bill will waive secondary education requirements for those retired from military service who apply for state government jobs.
