FORT KNOX, Ky. (WDRB) — Thousands of Kentucky veterans are unemployed.
“It’s really difficult, it is,” U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Terrence Douse said. “You know you’re getting out and you’re trying to figure out where you’re going to get a job at.”
Staff Sergeant Douse is not alone. Many members of the military struggle to transition back into the civilian workforce and 5.6 percent of Kentucky’s veterans are unemployed. The veteran unemployment rate for the entire United States was a lower 4.6 percent. That’s according to the 2016 State Economic Snapshots report from the Joint Economic Committee from Congress. The latest data is from October 2016.
