Veteran Earns Prestigious Internship

East Tennessee State University student David Lutz is one of only 25 people in the country to be selected for the prestigious Veterans Employment Trajectory Initiative, an all-expenses-paid summer internship at The Washington Center Sponsored by the Prudential Foundation, the VET Initiative is designed to cultivate veterans’ career advancement and workforce preparedness. The 10-week professional immersion program serves as a platform for increasing veterans’ access to quality jobs and for preparing them to transition from university life to the civilian working world. The award includes program fees and housing, financial aid and transportation, as well as accommodations during the VET Summit in Newark, New Jersey—in all, some $14,000 in support for each participant. In existence for over 40 years, The Washington Center is the largest academic internship program in the world.
